hp-lip and hp-setup ...

I installed current packages of today : hplip and Qt6.
It seems that there is a bug with hp-setup ? Or is there a missing package-dependency ?
When doing hp-setup then comes output :

DirtyAngel you installed bothqt6 andhplip from repo? And when you ran hplip in terminal, this is the output?
if all that is affirmative, output aside, did the launcher launch?

Forgot to say ... Launcher launched one time. After re-try then output above came in terminal.
And package with QT6 refers to QT-python-package.

qt6 probably unrelated.
I cut and paste some of these errors into DDG and got such a mixed bag of answers I don't know where troubleshooting could even begin.
Except getting the basic stuff out of the way.
Uninstall hplip.
reboot.
sudo eopkg check (for broken packages)
sudo eopkg rmo (housekeeping)
sudo eopkg dc(ditto ^)
then reinstall hplip and see what happens. it also made me wonder what else you installed that was printer-related.
all ^ this stuff will at least eliminate broken stuff. edit/sp

brent I did this what you suggested. But the problem stays the same like above output ?
Probably my laptop has malformed BIOS ?

I thought HPLIP from the software center automatically installed all the qt stuff?

Regardless, I concur with the above. Just uninstall and reinstall. Dependencies HPLIP-DRIVERS and Python-distro are included in the base install of Solus as far as I know. I did an install of Solus from the 4.4 ISO when it came out and everything went smooth.

riffer I hadn't considered/did not know that separate QT package might have been redundant in light of the hplip internals. That makes conflict also possible.
You'd think that output up there would reflect something clearer but it's over my head🙂

DirtyAngel If you remove QT6 (what did you need that for anyways?) then does hplip run?

come to think of it, does it matter? I mean it sounds like you are installing it from HP. Are you?
I mean, if you install it from Solus repo it does not install? It's just supposed to go into a script then you have to manually install?
I never used it before so I have no frame of reference. I feel like I'm missing something.

Axios (excellent catch that error was identical to op here. and unsolved.) kyrios had some insight why though. now that's a strange one.

I would remove hplip and unplug printer and reboot and reinstall hplip
then plug printer in and see what happens.
I think its just issues with whatever printer it is and maybe installing it without printer hooked up
maybe a work around.
But appears to me fixing would have to be done in eopkg from the info I can gather.

Already switched off and on printer. Have even made embedded firmware-update of HP-printer with ethernet cable.
The output above remains the same. It seems to be a "bug" between python and hplip ?!
I ask next minutes at hp on their forum, what this might be.

I think I posted this before, but just in case this thread comes up in a search this is how I install my hp printer:

Dependencies are HPLIP-DRIVERS and Python-distro. The Solus 4.3 and 4.4 ISO installs them, but check anyway.

Install HPLIP from the software center.

reboot

Type hp-setup in the terminal.

I've never had it automatically detect my networked printer, so I go into advanced and enter the network address and it goes from there.

I've had no luck with the tarball or whatever from HP on any distro. Last time I tried I think there was some sudo issue.

riffer ya' know sometimes--even with other printers like my brother---the way we sequence installations like this often has a lot to do with their success. Great point, @riffer

It would help to know the printer!!
This pertains to the hp install and not the solus repo package.
I would not try using the hp package
Looked in the file not all printers in family-class are undifined for some reason.
It seemed to fix peoples problems tho (But it was for ubuntu) sounds like whats going on.
It cant find it in the data file so it throws the error,thats what KeyError: 'family-class' means
I use hplip or did without any issues one of the better solutions for linux.(I set everything up from the gui to)

that's why 'family class' then; some packages incomplete.

I guess you could try that would be in the section listed for your printer (whatever that is)
That article is the only info I got to go on.
Havent had to do it myself
usr/share/hplip/data/models.dat (Is Root of course)
