  • Switch to Dates instead of Weeks?

I understand that for distro development going week by week makes sense for the dev team, and therefore they are numbered. For users however, 'Week xy' does not mean much, but 'August 18/23' does. No confusion.
So, I am wondering if the dev team can use dates for sync updates news, instead of week numbers. πŸ€”
Thanks!

My understanding is that week numbers are a lot more common in European countries. I was confused at first too by it.

I would also point out we sometimes sync more the once a week, early sync + regular sync or cherry-picking a fix making the specific day less important than the week of the last sync. We usually lock old sync threads once they are no longer the latest.

Date stamp formats are also not universal. US uses MM-DD-YYYY this confuses a lot of people as most the world uses DD-MM-YYYY but there is also YYYY-MM-DD. Week numbers are just all round better.

Plasma users can also enable showing week numbers in the calendar.

I agree with OP. I have never encountered a person referring to a time frame as a week number in real life. It is definitely not intuitive.

I use week numbers all the time, especially at work where it is mandatory.

Note also, it's possible to do it in Budgie Desktop (I've just tested it), here's how:
=> Budgie Desktop Settings -> Raven -> Agenda -> Widget Settings -> then active Show Week Numbers
