I installed sublim-text using the third-party software of the software center. I did not find sublime-merge in. I know I can install it using snap, but it may be insecure.

May it be possible to integrate sublime-merge (https://www.sublimemerge.com) too to third-party softwares, please? (not a free software, I suppose licence is almost the same as sublime-text's and it is available for apt, yum). I have no idea of the work needed for this purpose. If anyone knows a better solution to deal with git repo/versions, I will be happy to have recommendations : )

Many thanks for your answers and for Solus.

  • The third party section which is for software that we can not legally distribute due to its license is not accepting new additions and will one day go away. For software we can not legally distribute I recommend flatpak.

touzain I did not find sublime-merge in.

Have you ever taken a look at kdiff3? It's in the repository, and well worth considering for a merge tool.

Thank you for the suggestion of kdiff3 WetGeek . I found meld too.
        I will take a look.

flatpak version is limited to sublime text 3 (not 4) and sublime merge is 2083 version (current might be 4142 if it is the same version as sublime-text). But thank you for the proposition Harvey .

If I usually prefer command line updates, I found it quite nice to reach and install/update these softwares using a graphical interface (more user-friendly, you do not have to check which version is concerned and if it is official version or not for instance): I regret it. Thank you for the information.

I think the discussion may be closed, except in case of new merge software suggestion. Thank you again

Thank you FAb7D especially for merge 2083 version that is the latest.

For snap, I saw it too, but installation might be unsafe (?):

error: This revision of snap "sublime-merge" was published using classic confinement and thus may
perform arbitrary system changes outside of the security sandbox that snaps are usually
confined to, which may put your system at risk.

If you understand and want to proceed repeat the command including --classic.

As I am not sure of the security implications related to the usage of --classic option, I prefered not to use snap.

I will use sublime-text from third-party repo and sublime-merge from flatpak or meld if it feats my needs/expectations. Thanks again.
