Post the new update, my screen turns to random color after 10-15 minutes of System usage.

GPU - AMD RX550

Steam also has the same issue, game launches and when the game starts the screen turns black and I have to restart the PC.

  • Finally I was able to fix the issue by Changing the refresh rate to 50 instead of 60. And making use of Corectrl. Glad my mystery AMD issue is fixed. New kernel and updates also helped

ReillyBrogan Oh the card is pretty new and before the update it worked fine and had no issues.

I use to play Fishing Planet in Steam and had no issues.

Maybe I will try Solus without GPU for time being and see the difference and update here.

If you boot into the previous kernel (hold down during bootup to show the boot menu) does that help? If so it might be an issue with the updated linux-firmware. Otherwise we also updated mesalib to 23.1.4 and that could be a cause as well.

ReillyBrogan I tried both kernels, the result is same. When I start my Fishing Planet game it loads till menu and then the monitor displays different color everytime.

Final step is to remove the GPU, clean it and give it a try. Else I need to stick with onboard GPU to play games. Thanks

Jason5 The next sync will include mesalib 23.1.5 that has numerous bugfixes over 23.1.4. It will also include kernel 6.4.8 which upgrades the AMDGPU kernel driver. Either of those might help.

If neither of those help it's probably an issue in mesalib and I can provide some test packages so we can bisect where it broke for you.

Jason5 Not sure what you mean by good boot log and bad boot log? If the current kernel and the previous one both exhibit the issue then the cause is most likely mesalib (but it could also be something that mesalib broke but that works with kernel 6.4).

Sorry for one AMD post you posted this,

From a terminal run the following command sudo journalctl -b-1 > bad-boot.log
And the following sudo journalctl -b0 > good-boot.log

And I thought this log could help, Anyway I will wait for Mesalib fix.

After the update, my system has no display issue as of now. But playing Fishing Planet alone causes issue. I have raised a support ticket and waiting for the response.

Sorry to open the topic again. The issue still remains.

The screen goes blank or to any colour when i load any games. And this happens when i start to play but not when the game loads
