Hi,I'm pretty new to Solus OS. In fact, this is the third time i try to use it and I think it might be the right one, but i have some anoying issues that i'm sure there are really easy to fix.

The first one is that i want to turn off the Window grouping setting in the task bar title. I'm a heavy user of Chrome apps, so i use: Bandcamp, Notion, Google Docs, Whatsapp, Office 365 and Xbox Game Pass as my defaults apps. If window grouping is active i only have an icon and it is really uncomfortable to use it.

The second one: I love to change my wallpaper randomly, so i use an app called Damask. Normally, it woks. If i go to settings -> wallpaper, it show the wallpaper changed, but in my desktop it is always the same wall, the one that come by default. every time. So it doesn't work.

The third, is with the account online service of gnome, which it does not work when adding google. I already hace this issue on Ubuntu, but i don't want to have any additional problems.

as you can see, there are not very complicated issues.
If anyone can help, i will appreciate. Thank you very much and sorry if my english is to bad, i'm not an english native and i'm trying to do my best.

Eduardo.

  • Calaat The title task bar, works in two vertical rows wich I think it is a lot less optimal.

There is an issue when the Panel size is too big. It's a bug 99%.
Try to decrease the size of the Panel.

Here is my use of Task List applet:

It's the most efficient way to manage your windows/apps. Task List rules! 👍

Pro Tip: you can use icon task list as a launcher of your favorite apps.

Enable Only show favorited in the applet settings 😉

Pro Tip 2: you can pin apps as favorites by dragging them from the menu

Calaat If anyone can help, i will appreciate.

Your English is quite good, but it would help others to help you if you would tell us which edition of Solus you're using. Knowing what desktop environment you're using would help us to understand the problems. At one point, you mention mention gnome. Is that your choice of DE?

Oh! Sorry. I didn't think about this and I asume everybody is using Budgie, because imho It is the best desktop option and the reason because i came to Solus. So, I'm using Solus 4.4 (update to yesterday) and Budgie Desktop.
I mention Gnome, because the interface to cloud accounts is the Gnome interface. In fact, is Gnome what you connect with Google. The issue It is present in Ubuntu and Elementary too.
    THX for your answer.

Calaat The first one is that i want to turn off the Window grouping setting in the task bar title.

There is currently no way to do this using Icon Task List. Previously the option was there, but it was very buggy and caused issues with our window tracking. A new task list is in the works that won't have grouping, but it is quite a ways away. Until then, if you can stand having the window titles in the tasklist, you can use the Task List applet.

Calaat I love to change my wallpaper randomly, so i use an app called Damask

How did you install Damask? It's not something packaged by Solus. If it's from Flatpak, that might be why; it might need additional permissions because of sandboxing. There are other options that can be used, too. I think a popular one is Variety. It can actually be installed on Solus from the Software Center or running sudo eopkg it variety in the terminal.

EbonJaeger yeah! I'm using Damask throw flatpak and i was certain, I put on the permissions required on (change the wallpaper). In fact, if i go to the change wallpaper option, the wallpaper suits with the one i see in Damask.
But, in the wallpaper of my desktop, i only see the default wallpaper.
So, It is a sandbox issue?
I Will try Variety It seems It is a good choice and a good replacement of what i want.
        THX you very much.
I Will try the title option, and i Will stop to try something imposible ^^

Variety is exactly what I need, si It works perfectly.
The issue with the task bar, is more annoying and there is not a good option. I managed to put shortcut with the icons I need, but when launch they all are a Chrome Window.
The title task bar, works in two vertical rows wich I think it is a lot less optimal.
I was wondering if someone has made an applet wich can works, like the clipboard applet that i build myself throw GitHub.

        THX you all ;0)

Calaat You could add the "Task List" applet to your panel (in Budgie Desktop Settings) instead of the "Icon Task List". That one doesn't group windows together and instead has a separate entry for each. But of course it looks quite different from the Icon version.

Staudey i know, Thnak you. But is not optimal because, as i say on my previous comment, It lista the task list in a vertical row of two (maybe because my bar is too Big).
In the end, i lost the track of my apps and it is no a good option.
            Anyway, thank you.

Calaat In the end, i lost the track of my apps and it is no a good option.

I assume that you are not using the Workspace Switcher applet. When you install it, Budgie places it in the center of your bottom panel. If you want, every application that you run can have a full workspace to run on, like this:

The applet defaults to 4 workspaces, but you can add more, up to 8. More than one application can run in a workspace, depending on your need. Do you think this might help you?

Calaat Whoops sorry, I totally overlooked the fact that you and Ebon had already mentioned that option.

WetGeek i have no try this one, personnally i really dislike to have a bunch of workspaces, but It could work so i will try. Thank you!

I'm very impressed that, anyone (Who Can actually do It), has try to make an applet able to do that. There is not a clipboard manager applet by default neither, but someone has created one: https://github.com/prateekmedia/budgie-clipboard-applet
And it can be installed and used (i have do It, and i LOVE this applet)
I was certain that someone will do an applet that don't group the Windows.

Calaat I asume everybody is using Budgie, because imho It is the best desktop option and the reason because i came to Solus. So, I'm using Solus 4.4 (update to yesterday) and Budgie Desktop.

                That's true! 😃
                Great choice!

SOLUSfiddler I feel you! (But I'm actually a Budgie guy...)

I'm sure there's still hope for you. I started my Solus user career as a Budgie guy, and just look at me now!

Solarmass I love your setup, but sadly it force me to use a 33px size task bar, which is, in a 24inch screen, something to small.
I know, i want impossible. A non group icon applet xD
But, all the workarounds we have commented had a drawback to big to pass through.

I think, the better option is this one, this is why I higlight it, but it is not optimal neither because a 33 bar it is something i really dislike.

                  Thank you all.

Well, we can only wait for the new Task List that currently in the work.
