Does gnome edition also include core apps like gnome-text-editor in the future releases (for look and feel purposes since it its ported in gtk4 and libadwaita)?

Solarmass I prefer new gnome-text-editor too

Just curious -- what is it that makes it better than GEdit? I've always liked both GEdit and Kate. If gnome-text-edtor is even better than GEdit, I'd probably like it, too.

I guess it's mostly internal dark theme. I don't use it very often, in the terminal I prefer micro.

Same here. I think I've used them all over the years, and nothing can compare with micro. I only use nano anymore if I'm forced to. Every Other Interesting Distro that I investigate requires me to do some endting from the terminal, and sometimes nano's the only editor that's available.

So, is gnome-text-editor designed for in-terminal editing? Is that what differentiates it from GEdit? If so, it might be worth a look.

        No. it's a gui app

Not much I guess, like I said I just like its built-in dark theme more 🙂

I managed to make gedit and other apps look like it was ported to gtk4 by installing the adw-gtk3-theme. Now I'm less bothered by the difference in theming.

Just installed gnome text editor from flathub. I like the way it looks, but it even seems to lack "go to line" feature.
I suppose since it is Gnome, we should be glad that they at least left the feature to actually edit text 🙈😂

Sebastian Oh, I actually was wrong. "go to line" feature does exist, but you only find out if you check for shortcuts. No place for basic features in hamburger menu.
