Howdy. During the time of the big outage and it was looking like Solus was going under for good I jumped ship and went to Debian stable. It's been a good experience especially now that Bookworm is out but I've always had the special soft spot that Solus filled. It's a great desktop oriented distro.

I'm very likely going to come back when the 4.4 ISO's drop, however I would like to ask if the legacy Nvidia 470 driver is still going to be supported for the forseeable future. I have a legacy Nvidia GPU (GT 635) that does not support the latest 500 series drivers, with 470 being the latest. 470 is not a terribly old driver but I've noticed on the 4.4 iso dev tracker that the 390 drivers are being dropped for 4.4, leaving 470 as my only possible choice other than nouveau, and I think it's reasonable to not want to use nouveau if I can help it. Thanks.

390 has already been dropped. We stop supporting driver branches when nvidia does (we actually supported 390 driver branch about 6 months longer than nvidia).

GT 635 is a kepler series card.

Critical security updates will be available on systems utilizing desktop Kepler-series GPUs through September 2024.

Alright that looks fine. Still got more than a year of support on this card and if I'm ever stuck with it after nouveau has worked pretty well anyway. Thank you.

Chaussettes when 390 got deprecated I thought I'd miss it, too but "nouveau has worked pretty well anyway" as you said. it makes me less in a hurry to replace hardware that is for sure
