Sorry, but the last update was awful! I use KDE, and now I just can not work. The bottom panel looks broken, fonts are hidden behind graphic artifacts, and with Wayland the interface begins to be covered with some kind of ripples. And then the system just freezes dead at a random moment, and the only thing I can do is hard reset.
And at least two guys wrote about similar problems with Budgie.

What's going on? I could have waited until Friday (and I am waiting, despite the fact that it is unbearable), but I am not sure that it will be fixed on Friday. I'm afraid that on Friday you will just reschedule the sync for a week because of ISO 4.4. This is the worst thing that has happened to the distribution in these two years. Not months without updates, but just one broken update that completely breaks the system.

Care to elaborate a bit ?
Because I, too, am using Plasma.....and the only issue I had was with latte-dock 0.10.7 that didn't play well with Wayland.

AMD or Intel CPU ? Integrated or discrete GPU (and what GPU) ?
Theme ? Fonts ?
"It doesn't work" is not a useful description of the problem.

    Can you provide screenshots of what you mean? Unfortunately we haven't heard any similar reports to what you're reporting so we can't really know the solution to your problem.

      CorvusRuber @ReillyBrogan
      Visual issues aren't so important if the laptop may freeze at any time.

      Asus N61, Intel, Nvidia
      I was thinking that it could be a hardcore issue, but I don't believe in such coincidences: I installed the update on Saturday evening, and on Sunday I noticed all these problems.

        Semenov

        I've been testing KDE Plasma with both X11 and Wayland (unstable repo), and it's been fine for me. Are you on the stable / Shannon repo?

        Can you please go to About this System in the menu and use the copy button and then paste that here? We'll do some digging in the meantime.

          ReillyBrogan the main problem is freezes: I just work and then the interface simply stops responding to clicks. The cursor moves, the sound works for a few more minutes, but then everything freezes. The only thing I can do is hard reset.

          I thought it might be a problem with Vivaldi, but then the laptop froze when I was working in Krita.

          You mentioned in another post that you have an Nvidia GT220m for GPU: that thing is 14 years old, and the rest of your specs (Core 2 Duo CPU, 4 GB RAM) seem to point to an equally old system.
          I'm not surprised that some things could not work so well on a system so old and underpowered for today's standards....

          @Semenov

          Could you be persuaded to run the following and paste the output into a text block surrounded by triple backticks like this:

          ```
          (output of sudo LC_ALL=en-US.UTF8 lspci -vnn goes here)
          ```

          This will give the team better insight into exactly which hardware you are running.

          The finished post should look like something along these lines:

              As your PC is fairly old and doesn't have any cryptography co-processor hardware, the process will run for a while as it is calculating the checksums of all files installed by a package on your system and comparing them with the checksum recorded in the list of files in each package.

                @ReillyBrogan

                Semenov 's lspci output shows that he's using the nouveau driver; do we even have a supported NVidia Xorg driver for the GT220m chip he appears to be using?

                And how much of this has to do with e.g. LDM?

                FTR, I have an old C2Q Q9400 box and a GF GT240 card that I can help test with as/if necessary. This hardware config should be somewhat similar in terms of age and driver support.

                I will state for the record that I'm not surprised to hear that the nouveau driver performs poorly and tends towards glitches. This has been my own experience with nouveau as well as soon as 3D acceleration is involved.

                  ermo That GPU hasn't been supported since the 340 nvidia driver which was EOLed quite a while ago. The nouveau driver is his only option, and considering that it's built into the kernel there's a decent chance that booting to the old kernel might help ( @Semenov hasn't reported back whether that helps or not). Another issue might be something to do with the mesalib update since I think that noeveau uses a user-space driver in the mesalib package.
