dbarron So basically you're saying that PIP is simply a full-time resident always-on-top window (on all screens) for your point of usage? I don't know, but strongly suspect that isn't real hard to implement.
IAMISSAM dbarron On elementaryOS, when we take the area and the area changes, that changes on the PIP too, it's not a frozen picture, so maybe have real time PIP is harder than frozen picture (even if frozen picture would be just as good according to me)
WetGeek kyrios With enough horsepower and resolution, that could make a damned decent development workstation!
JacekJagosz I think it could also be implemented on the application side. I windows-only web browser Maxthon you can detach any video and have it in a separate window, that can be always on top. So this could be a part of an app that isn't DE specific
kyrios JacekJagosz That would mean each and every app should implement it instead of having the feature implemented only once at the DE level.
Blue_Ruby FireFox as of version 71 has PiP in it for videos, I have tested it on YouTube and it works great. https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2019/12/how-to-use-firefox-picture-in-picture-video-playback-on-linux
synth-ruiner I used to use Elementary's picture-in-picture mode constantly but it crashed so much. several times a day. If you can find the source you could try compiling it and running it yourself. I have no idea whether it would work but I can't see why not. Or maybe there are other picture-in-picture programs available.
