Embarrasing Solus Boot Question but I gotta Know

Pi**ed me off that even though I did a UEFI install, at the boot menu it offers me a grub budgie or an efi budgie. but its the same budgie. Grub is like an infection I tell you...

brent Maybe because your bios is set to use either and not one or the other
(But have noticed some bios you cant do that with)

Good for you! No idea about the offer of GRUB or UEFI when you start up. When I start my computers, I never see anything like that. Perhaps someone more experienced with GRUB could advise you. My suggestion would be to get rid of GRUB, but I have no idea how to do that.

Axios It is set to 'either' but I forced it to UEFI only. When I installed UEFI Budgie I still had the other grub disk plugged in so as usual other drives never mind their own business. it was my fault for not unplugging it during install. Good guess though, that was part of it.

it was set for uefi only. after install I reset it to "legacy and uefi' because I wanted the grub budgie to boot so I coud pillage files from it for the new uefi budgie.
no I'm not seeing the grub budgie boot there...I erased that OS. it's give me the same Budgie with 2 boot options now.

brent So the firmware has the old boot entry for your GRUB. You can clean that by using efibootmgr

[deleted] thanks for that. my experiences with efibootmgr are varied. most of the time I could make the boot order stick. but NONE of the time would any of my boot deletions stick after a reboot. they would mysteriously reappear. I carried out all the commands with escalated privileges, the right way.
that got me thinking do I actually have to go into /efi/boot folders and manually pilfer and plunder files to make this work? maybe I was doing something wrong. it's worth another look.
I feel like L for Loser having one operating system with two boot methods....
