Hi there,
not sure when it happened but recently the "user indicator" widget that launches when I click the ON/OFF button in the panel has become transparent.
I have a picture of the light blue Lake Tahoe as my laptop's wallpaper and the user indicator is almost invisible as it is also light blue (or has taken its colour from my wallpaper or both).
I would like to get the "old" user indicator back or have the new one changed to some sensible colours - how can that be done?

What GTK theme are you using? Sounds like it doesn't support the newer Budgie changes. Also see this for an alternative.

I've installed the User Indicator Redux - it's just what I craved for!
Thank you so much!
Faced the same problem.
In Budgie Desktop Settings I use Plata-Lumine-Compact widgets and have Dark theme enabled - so, nothing special.
I figured that enabling Built-in theme makes the dialog opaque.
I've made a Pull Request to address this issue here, so if that gets merged and released, older themes should still work. Do note though that Plata has gone unmaintained for a couple of years now, so eventually it is going to break in a way that just won't be fixed.
