I'm sure you're both right. But installing an OS on that machine is somewhat of an unpleasant task, because it involves crawling on the floor and connecting a wired keyboard and mouse until the OS is able to access Bluetooth. Then I can do the rest of the installation and configuration from a comfortable chair across the room, and put the wired peripherals away once more.
That would also be true in the case of trying this with a "live" USB. And for that same reason, I don't want to install another Linux on it, and then replace it with Solus a week or two later. I'll just put up with Windows until then.
To be fair about it, Windows has done a competent job as a substitute. But I can't wait until I can once again stream content with Solus. And play music through the sound bar using Elisa. And have all the other familiar Linux apps and utilities available.
