JUST A PSA.
Imagescan and Utsushi work for a limited number of Epson printers and scanners in Solus but newer ones are way behind if you read forum posts, and dev tracker posts.
When I nuked Budgie I lost my beloved old targz package with the interpreter and plugin I needed for a V-series, I realized I could not compile it (even source code is a deb package) tonight.
Inspired by @WetGeek , who set up his printers for every new distro hop, I began to do this for my scanner in distrohops.
Most distros had the miraculous Epsonscan2 package (a newer Epson creation) which solves the problem for almost all newer scanners. Every single hop distro installed my scanner successfully.
I was going to harangue Solus devtracker for eponscan2 package because no one else had, curiously. I changed my mind. I discovered there was a flatpak for it.
EPSON scanner solution for Solus: flatpak install net.epson.epsonscan2
For the v series you can uninstall imagescan and utsushi; they don't work without the direct plugins or intepreters and .so files etc. These are likely tightly bundled in epsonscan2.
Hopefully the "how do I install my Epson scanner" readers see this in their forum search. the flatpak, to my surprise, is the answer.
Dig it.
