I haven't set up a mixed environment for some time, but as far as my memory serves you will need to edit your samba conf file to set up the workgroup name to be the same across all pc's, windows & Linux. Also make sure all are running on the same subnet and ip ranges.
I also remember that I had to give each windows user a password since a blank password would not let me log on to the shares from the linux side. Other than that I can't recall anything special that had to be done - although I was using OpenSUSE back then so YMMV on Solus.
