minrvovrfc I want my settings for the touchpad and not "their" settings.
When I first configure an OS I'm examining, one of the first things I do is to visit the system settings and check to see whether anything needs to be changed to fit my workflow. Sometimes that's where I create some extra workspaces, and it's always where I turn off the touchpad on a laptop. I hate those, and much prefer using a mouse. So issues with the touchpad simply don't affect me. That's a change that only needs to be made once.
Similarly, every time I boot an OS I launch a terminal and use the command mount -a
to mount my NAS shares before I do anything else. That makes about 12 remote folders like Documents, Downloads, Backups, and so on available to me as if they were local folders. Starting a terminal to do that also loads the macros (aliases) to my .bashrc file(s) from the bashrcAdditions file in my /home directory. The terminal stays open in its own workspace all through the session, as I usually use it again and again, for all kinds of system maintenance tasks.
I'm not suggesting that I'm doing something right and you're doing it wrong, just explaining that we have different workflows. And that's why I really can't speak to the problems you're having. They simply don't occcur for me. I agree with you about Beryllium -- it's the best and most convenient use of OpenBox I've ever seen. I even installed it on a spare laptop for a while, because I wanted to experience it on a real computer instead of just a VM. Untill Beryllium, the last OS that impressed me that much was Ultramarine Budgie, a long time ago.
