I realize that you haven't installed Wifi Analyzer on the laptop, but here's a simple way to get an approximate reading of signal strength from the laptop's current location.
Open Windows Control Panel. Right-Click on the Windows Start button (left side of Taskbar, looks like four little Window panes). After you Right-Click, you will see a menu item (down toward the bottom) labeled "Run". Click on "Run" and this window will open:
Type "control panel" in the box, as I did above. Click "OK".
The Control Panel opens:
Click on "Network and Internet" and this window will open:
Click on "View network status and tasks" and this window will open:
Finally, click on the connection by the green status bars (in my case "Wi-Fi (WeFairies)", and then this window will open:
The green bars by to the right of "Signal Quality" will give you an approximate reading on your signal strength.
So, how many bars do you get off the laptop?
Note: If you don't want to go to all the bother with Control Panel, you can get a rough approximation by looking at the Wifi bars on right side of the Taskbar:
