WetGeek Watching NY vs. Cowboys today, every few minutes the video would stop, while the audio continued without an interruption. Moving the mouse would make the video continue. I've never seen this happen before, and my wife and I watch a lot of movies that last for hours, as well as soccer and football games without ever seeing this happen.
Streaming is on a DELL desktop, i5 and 16 MB, so it's not the computer doing this. Streaming with Vivaldi, connected to YouTube TV. If I'm patient, the video starts again after a while, but nudging the mouse always unblocks it immediately.
Any ideas?
Yeah. Do some basic troubleshooting.
If you have been streaming without problems on that computer for a while and the problem showed up yesterday, then chances are that the problem is caused by (1) (possible, but not real likely) a change of some sort that you made to the computer yesterday or the day before, or (2) (not likely but possible) a failing HDMI cable, or (3) (most likely) an upstream problem with the ISP or the stream supplier.
My suggestion is to stream for a few days and see if you get a repeat. If you don't, the problem was almost certainly upstream. If you do get a repeat, then start looking at your computer and its settings and/or replace your HDMI cable in case it is failing.
My husband and I stream and sometimes get exactly what you described -- video locks while audio continues, or the two get out of sync so that one is ahead of the other. I'm surprised that it doesn't happen more often than it does given that video and audio are separate streams. Usually a "stop, breath, think" reset of the entire system -- router, steaming device, television -- resolves the problem.
