tomscharbach @WetGeek Wow gentlemen what a coinkydink. I have one of the last AMC engines in a vehicle I own now. Engineering-wise this was America's greatest car company. The 401s, 360s, 6 slants, even the 2.5 are legend and these engines still walk among us. (they did not make their own transmissions; always commisioned them). Greatest? Yes. But visually? YUCK. They couldn't hire a visionary to save their company. Gremlins? Hornets? Pacers? Yuck on the eyeballs. I had a friend with an AMC Eagle and that ugly thing drove til the wheels fell off forever but so painful to look at.
Their saving grace as far as design was the Jeep line, which they actually improved from the full size pickups to the big cherokees all the way to the CJ/YJ wranglers. Before Chrysler ruined them.
I digress. Computers and stuff.
