has anyone else noticed that alot of things are out of order?!?!?
when i installed Budgie, it gave me the dark mode option.
I recently performed "the update"(about some time this past week(221012-221017)), and now, for some reason, "Files", is in light mode.
The rest of the OS is in Dark Mode, but not "Files". i understand that this is part of Nautilus(if i am correct here), but what broke during the upgrade?

I've also noticed that when i play (Gnome-Sudoku - 43.0), some of the tiles are colored like red and blue, instead of a gray(usually when i type a hint on the block, they stay white, with the number upon them, and dont change color.).

any thoughts at what i should be looking for to change/rectify this issue?!?!??
thanks in advance!

The theming in nautilus is done over libadwaita, introduced by gnome some time ago (theming for gtk4) so budgie is affected as it does not use libadwaita for theming, the simplest solution is to use dconf-editor and go to /org/gnome/desktop/interface/color-scheme and change the value to prefer-dark.
every gnome app using libadwaita, like nautilus does, should switch to dark theme. its not perfect but it does the trick.

I do not use gtkland stuff apart from an old VM so I have largely stayed out of the discussions. But l switched the theme to materia-dark months ago when this first occurred and my Nautilus (files) still obeys dark mode. 🤷‍♂️

    EDIT:
    As does calculator, calendar, etc.

I tried using "materia-dark" just now, didn't work for me re. calculator and calendar.
And if I wanted to try the workaround mentioned elsewhere on this forum:
      How do I "open" dconfig-editor?

you have to install it, it's in the repo.

nolan this worked for me, thank you for the info!(had to DL the dconf-editor though, didnt know it wasnt pre-packaged!!!)

I was able to keep all my apps dark without dconf-editor. I used materia-dark + toggle off Built In Theme + toggle off Dark Theme. All three moves in the same tab in budgie desktop settings.
not too easy; the road to get there was painful trial and error
