Bluhm Sorry, but desktop integration is important to me for this kind of tool. I would prefer the native package manager "eopkg" to install it. I really don't like Snaps or Flatpaks.
Reading between the lines, I suspect that there is zero chance that either kile or texmaker are headed for the Solus repository.
If the two packages are a threshold requirement for you, and a Flatpak is unacceptable, Solus might not be a good fit for you. I believe that both packages are included in the Ubuntu repositories, so you might want to look at Ubuntu Budgie, Kubuntu or Ubuntu, depending on your choice of DE.
If you want to use Solus and have both apps, you might consider building and maintaining a private eopkg for the two apps.
Building and maintaining a private eopkg isn't a trivial undertaking, but it isn't rocket science. I ran Edge using a private eopkg for months before Edge became available as a Flatpak. Neither kile nor texmaker seem to be updated very often, so maintaining the private eopkg is not likely to be much of a burden, as it was with Edge.
