I need urgent help

So right now I did the sudo eopkg hs - t 33 and said yes to the command. It says it failed to make a connection should I use ether net cable to fix this?

Marz Well, it's beyond my knowledge, but you can try, since with the direct connection you don't need to pass a password or anything of that kind. It's also possible that you messed up with some package related to internet connection, but it's just a guess. As i told you, i don't have that much experience either

Marz (history just gets you the right number staudey was talking about so you can rollback the system. I used history and rollback together in my example but they are separate functions. semantics)

I do not know 'best practices' after a rollback... anyone?
But I'm guessing in your case you want to make sure nothing is broken: sudo eopkg check.
sudo eopkg rdb for good measure (rebuilds database).
If AND ONLY IF the broken packages were reinstalled ( I posted a script in this thread that finds broken then replaces broken), then I'd do a full update (sudo eopkg up)

My advice is conditional and I hope you get a 2nd opinion. Check broken stuff then update I would say first...

brent I did the check thing and everything seem to be fine except for this one
To ensue I don't mess up the proccess should I rebuild the data base or is there some procedure before this I should to fix this issue?

that just a font package. you can skip rdb and go right into full upgrade if you want. credit to @Staudey the rollback worked. you have nothing to lose updating your system in my humble and inflation-adjusted 2 cents...the reason I'm saying that is your python packages are not broken causing other broken stuff.
sudo eopkg up

...if an update borks system you can rollback and ask someone smarter🙂

sudo eopkg up and then a restart after it finished. If your system still doesn't work after that, I would just write it off as a loss. You can also try restarting first without the update, and see how that goes.

You guys are absolutely sexy mf I love all of you so much right you don't understand how happy I am. I was starting to think I would need to reinstall solus and lose all of my files but because of you guys I don't need to

I think I learned a valuable lesson do ever EVER remove programs using the software centre I didn't realise the severity of it.

Marz There is no problem removing stuff using the software center, but take a good look at what gets removed. If there is a long list of things, you're probably trying to remove some rather important piece of software, and should reconsider. But yeah, in general I would recommend only removing things that you yourself installed, and leave the rest of the system untouched, unless you really know what you're doing.

Staudey thanks man this really helped I really like solus it's just that I find some of the stuff a bit difficult to understand. Do you know of anything I can read up or watch so I can understand linux a bit more I want to get into computer related stuff more but idk where to start?

Marz To be honest, just using your computer, then researching a topic when you want to configure something, or a problem occurs, go a long way. The Arch Wiki is a great help when you want to get information on a specific app/library/etc.
