Just keep in mind that creating a Windows VM is a whole lot easier and less complicated that any dual-boot scheme. A Windows VM can't interfere with a linux host, or vice-versa.
And you don't need to boot one or the other ... you can have them both available simultaneously. If you finally decide to take the leap, I'll help you all the way.
You don't even need to change your current system until you're sure that your Windows VM is running well on your Linux host machine.
