ifconfig and the like? where are they?

I saw in my eopkg search that ifconfig is deprecated. What is used now to display network stats, wired and wireless connections? Maybe I know it, but can't put my finger on it.....

ifconfig was deprecated upstream a long time ago. The replacement is just ip but I have never bothered to learn its syntax.

If like me you would rather keep using what was not broken, ifconfig still exists it was just split off into its own package (Has been since March 2022) you can just continue using that.

Note deprecated in this context means that upstream said so not that we stopped shipping it entirely.

elfprince thanks for asking about that, I did not know it was deprecated. I use ifconfig to get printer/etc addresses for manual configuration on occasion

elfprince used to be default installed I did not know it disappeared. eopkg it as we speak🙂

Yeah and instead of ifconfig eth0 up we have ip link set eth0 up much wow. I swear they took their inspiration for command syntax from PowerShell. 😛
