One of the things I love about Solus is how fast it boots. It's like 10 seconds on this 2010 MacBook Pro. (hand-me-down, dead battery, replaced for $23).
However, the startup is a bit disconcerting.
On powerup the screen remains white for 4-5 seconds. On other distros, the screen is white for only second before going black. It looks like is has stopped working.
Then the screen goes black with a bunch of random characters. It looks like the system has crashed.
After a few seconds, the screen goes black with no feedback as to what is happening.
And then, like magic the login screen appears.
No matter how many times I boot the system, it somehow feels broken until I make it to the login screen (and I breath a sigh of relief).
This is obviously not a deal breaker and admittedly a bit picky, but any improvement is welcomed. Just a simple "Solus Linux starting..." message might be enough.
I can post a video of the boot if this is of interest.
