Week 30 2022. Known issues for Polkit.

We are aware of potential issues with polkit especially for users on plasma. Polkit handles the authentication prompt for actions requiring administrative capabilities.

This is being worked on in unstable, see https://dev.getsol.us/T10321 for details. Hopefully, it will be resolved in the sync on the 29th/30th.

This post is just to say, the issue is known and we are working on it.

If you are on Plasma you won't be able to use Software Center to install ur update packages until the next update. You can use sudo eopkg up to update your system and sudo eopkg it to install your packages.
Fortunately the team managed to fix it already, and on unstable it works great.

I was in the process of writing a post about having issues with authentication on Plasma and not getting the sudo password prompt for anything and then I looked up and saw this fixed above the editor 😅... I'm glad you all are on it and relieved to know it wasn't something I broke on my install. Thank you!

I found this solution. I open the terminal (Konsole in my case), and enter this

sudo gufw

Enter my password, and it works.

Fyi no issues were identified in testing and the updated Polkit packages are scheduled to go out in the next sync (I haven't heard about it being delayed so I assume this should happen shortly).

Once the sync happens please run sudo eopkg up in a terminal and once the update completes reboot your computer and if you're a Plasma user you should see admin prompts start working again.

Edit: the sync happened, updated polkit is live.

I updated my desktop today in the morning (Solus KDE), and the Polkit issue seems to be solved, when I open gufw, I am required to enter my password, as usual. Thank you!
