[deleted] es, the Surface Go with i5, 4GB of Ram and 64GB of eMMC, it was on sale for $349.99. Solus Plasma runs real well on it and so did Mint Cinnamon. Pretty much every Distro I've installed did everything it was supposed to do other than Solus Mate. It's not just the Battery Icon, but also trying to load some other Widgets into the Tray that didn't work out correctly with Solus Plasma.
Okay, let's break this down:
(1) Battery Status Indicator - The Surface Laptop Go model with those specs is probably described on the Linux-Surface matrix as either SLG or SLG2. If SLG, then the battery status indicator "Requires linux 5.13+ or linux-surface kernel" or higher. If SLG2, the battery status indicator "Requires linux-surface kernel >=5.18.10". You can, if you choose, work with experienced people who have been commenting to figure out this tangle. Note that there seems to be a specialized Linux kernel for Surface computers. I have no idea what to do with that issue.
(2) Widgets-Tray - That sounds like a distro implementation issue, unless the Widgets involve battery status. If the Widgets involve battery status, then chances are that the problem will resolve itself when you resolve the battery status indicator issue. If the Widgets involve something else, and work in KDE Neon (the mothership for KDE Plasma) but don't work in Solus Plasma, then (a) it would be helpful if you would identify what Widgets don't work the way you think that they should so that experienced Plasma users like @WetGeek and the Plasma maintainer (@Girtablulu) could step in to help, or (b) if you would prefer not to do that, then abandon Solus Plasma and install KDE Neon instead.
In either case, I don't have the knowledge, skills or experience to go further down this path. I wish you luck.
