Brave vs Firefox

Firefox is typically the slowest on my machines. I have noticed that some sites won't load correctly on Firefox that will on chromium browsers, this is most likely an issue with the site being built for chrome like amp or something. I use it on all my work machines because of multi-account containers though.

Brave seems to be okay, faster than Firefox but doesn't load as fast as Opera for me.

Most of the sites I visit seem to either load a bit faster or perform better for me on Firefox compared to Brave.

Running Solus 4.3 with 64GB RAM and AMD Ryzen 5700G on Samsung 860 NVME. Maybe my hardware and software combination is giving Firefox an advantage, who knows.

codewizard1975 i think disabling some about:config settings makes firefox snappier. do you recall doing anything like this? i am sure there are some hidden settings there that does this.

Just running the stock Firefox installed during installation.

codewizard1975 for me its new day different results. firefox slow loading, very doggy today. chrome-based browser like lightning. Ever since you made this thread it's worth noting that inconsistency is the only consistency (for me at least).

@brent totally understand as after a reboot its back to Brave being fast and Firefox being slow as hell.

I use Flame Dashboard on my docker server and it takes 3 seconds to load in Firefox but just pops up in Brave. Pretty bad too when I have 2.5Gb network going between servers and my main desktop.

Guess its back to Brave with hopping into Firefox only as needed.

Now I remember what started all this. GoDaddy keeps giving me the "Your browser is a bit unusual..." error in Brave but loads fine in Firefox.

Glad I'm moving the final stuff away from them.

codewizard1975 This is a main reason why I am shy to try and implement browsers other than Firefox/Chrome, which all financial and government institutions recognize. 😀

I opened GoDaddy with Brave, just to try, and it loaded quickly and without any issue.

Perhaps there is some problem with your Brave installation...

joluveba the 4-5 things I did read about codewizard1975 's Brave/GoDaddy/BrowserisUnusual messages were all extension related.

@brent No extensions were installed, fresh clean Brave. Even disabled Brave shield on about half the sites I visit due to various minor issues.

@joluveba The site always loaded for me, but as soon as I went to log in, I received the error message.

The main important stuff I need to do works fine in Firefox so going to be working between them both for now. I might even drink the Alphabet juice and do Chrome/Chromium...
