Hello,

If screen locked while non-english keyboard layout is on then it can not be unlocked because layout can not be switched to EN to type password.

There are used to be a keyboard layout switcher on lockscreen window.

Best regards
Serhiy.

    Which DE are you using?

Thanks for adding that. I don't personally use Budgie, nor do I use any language except English, so I probably won't be able to help much. But those who CAN help you will want to know that you're using Budgie.

@gray380 Did you find the solution yet? I think if you are on the lockscreen, you can try switch user which will bring you to login screen. There, you can find the keyboard layout switcher on top right of your screen. Maybe this will help.

What keyboard layout was that? What language and writing system?
What I'm going to propose is a workaround, not a solution, but it might work. Look on another computer on the internet for a layout of that language, and use it as a guide to enter your password.

alfisya After switching several times, another user logs in, but all open programs are closed. Like when I restart. For me, the language is Bulgarian, and the arrangement is traditional phonetic.

joluveba the password has been created under 'us' keyboard layout.
The working keyboard layout is 'uk' (Ukrainian).
When screen locks there no possibility to switch the layout so typed password is mismatched .

A workaround is to make sure that the layout is in 'us' before locking the screen 😉

valst don't login to another user account, what i mean by clicking switch user it brings you to the login screen (lightdm). There you can find the accessibilty options on the top right.

alfisya I did not login to another user, and yes, there (in the 'switch user') I can choose the layout, but session backs to the locked screen with let say 'wrong' layout.

                Hello,

So, is there any chance keyboard-layout switcher will be added to the Budgie's lock-screen?

workaround open an tty (Ctrl+Alt+F2) and kill the budgie-screensaver process

gray380 And so every time? Better to use the GNOME. And since he's a GNOME, Fedora is better.

valst And since he's a GNOME, Fedora is better.

Anyone interested in moving to Fedors should take a look at Ultramarine Linux. It's based on Fedora, but much improved. If Solus didn't exist, I'd be using it, too.

valst every time when I left ua keyboard layout 😉
According to GNOME I prefer KDE to be honest.

WetGeek If Solus didn't exist I highly likely move to Manjaro or Pop!_OS 🙂

WetGeek I tried Ultramarine, but I like Solus better and it does a great job for me. And Fedora is my previous distribution, I've been with it for a long time and I have sentiments. 🙂 If I understood more I would do this with the keyboard layout, but I don't understand.
