Synaptics TMP3238 touchpad technical problems

Hello,

I have a laptop with a Synaptics TMP3238 touchpad which doesn't work properly.
The cursor moves, scrolling works, click buttons work but it doesn't register my taps, and yes I do have them ON in settings. It's infuriating.

Btw I'm on 4.3 Plasma with everything up to date.

Has anyone else experienced anything simillar?

in the search forum there's quite a few synaptics threads but only one marked 'solved'🙁

has the combination of Plasma+Touchpad worked before? Or is this a new problem for you? Bumping in case someone can tell you kernel/software etc problem.

Oh! I didn't know how to do the search as you did. I tried something but I found nothing useful. I'll start reading those topics asap.

The Plasma - Touchpad combination worked before, and when I say before I mean months before. I forgot when all this started. I think I just tought it was a minor glitch which would be fixed soon but I guess I was wrong.

Btw don't bump anything because I don't know how to replicate this yet and I would just end up creating headaches for people. : )
