How to make a double-sided print (Canon TS 8000) ?

Hello 🙂

Solus KDE is a wonderful distribution, that I use every day, with a lot of pleasure!

However, I'm writing to you because I can't print both sides of a PDF document with my Canon TS 8000 printer.

I can't print a PDF document directly in the web browser either. It doesn't work.

Do you have a solution for these two problems?

answering question #2:
your browser is hiding the print icons for pdf printing? I've never heard of that. Or are you saying the pdf open in the browser has print buttons the operating system can't recognize (print button doesn't print)? Either case set your default to open PDF in Evince instead, then print. If that doesn't work you never had a driver to begin with? Can you confirm Solus sees your printer in print settings?
All I have is a workaround. I don't have a solution for a browser not being able to access an OS's print settings.

Hi Brent and thanks for your interest in my message.

Yes, the Canon TS8000 printer is well recognized in Solus KDE and it installed incredibly easily with Solus. I didn't have to do anything, the installation is almost automatic!

Internet browsers also recognize the printer, but triggering a printout has no effect. It's not a big deal, just download the PDF document, then print it. It works perfectly, but I can't find the option that allows double-sided printing. That was the main purpose of my message. This is the only thing that still forces me to use Windows 11 (even if it's not that bad!).

Maybe an option missing in the Canon TS 8000 series driver under Linux?

Jean-Louis131FR OK--you found the workaround for #1, that one is over with. Still it's very unusual a browser would not talk to a printer or an operating system...that one's weird. Wish I knew.

If you don't have the Canon suite software for Linux (be thankful you don't have printer bloatware in Linux) then I don't think you can do this automatically unless deep in the settings of your print dialogue box. If it ain't there, my method is quite simple:
I have a 10-page document.
I print pages 1,3,5,7,&9.
I put 1 3 5 7 9, in that order, face up, head of sheets facing outward, back into my printer tray.
Then I print 2,4,6,8,&10.
Done.
Pretty easy. You can certainly do a version of this. 2 cents.

Is the duplex option available in print settings or whatever the KDE equivalent is?
