Installing VMware Player in Solus

So far I have

1) Executed: "sudo sh VMware-Player-Full-16.2.3-19376536.x86_64.bundle"

2) Installed these prequisities: "gcc, pcsc-lite and linux-current.headers". After installing these prequisities the error messages started being non informative.

Now when I try to run "VMware Player" I get the following errors:

_Before you can run VMware, several modules must be compiled and loaded into the running kernel.

Build environment error! A required application is missing and Modconfig ca not continue. xzCheck the log fo more details._

Please advice?

PS: I have no glue where the log files could be located 🙁

It works without problems for me. Even Solus-Mate-4.3 does not ask for a password and installed. You have installed system.devel: sudo eopkg install -c system.devel.
Show:

eopkg li | grep linux-
uname -a

pomon This was it. Thank you. I now have the Player up and running. I'm hoping to get better performance than with VirtualBox. We shall see.

Odd. The VMWare Player worked like a charm on the first try. But after a reboot the Player starts but I am unable to start my virtual machine. The error reads: "Could not open /dev/vmmon: No such file or directory. Please make sure that the kernel module 'vmmon' is loaded." 🙁

Try sudo vmware-modconfig --console --install-al

Found a solution:

1) After system boot one needs to first run:
"sudo /etc/init.d/vmware start"

2) Then VMWarePlayer can be started and should works as expected. 🙂
