Lucien_Lachance looks a bit home made, doesent scale too well and looses a bit of its effect when in monochrome
Solus scales down as well as most linux logos, and does better in monochrome that most. This illustration sets the logo sizes to 40-50 pixels (roughly taskbar/panel size):

It seems to me that the Solus team has better things to do, unless a volunteer with significant logo design experience shows up and wants to develop different takes on the sailboat theme. I've never designed a logo, but I've worked with professionals who were designing logos for Fortune 100 company intranets, and logo design is no small task.
