AMD graphics not usable on Budgie USB live boot

Long time user of Ubuntu Budgie and have been using Solus 4.3 Plasma for a few weeks now and am in love with Solus! Have had a few quirky issues with Plasma and want to switch to the Budgie DE. However, when booting to the live USB, I hear login sounds and splash screen, but then blanks and just get the infamous blinking cursor. Have tried the suggestions posted in a few places for NVidia cards, but no joy. Budgie is the ONLY version this happens on (naturally). Plasma and MATE both start fine with no fiddling. Any suggestion?

This forum is so helpful, I'm sure someone will be able to solve your Budgie problem soon. But you seem to be having no provlems with Plasma. You could do a lot worse than adopting that DE instead. (I'm speaking from personal experience.)

I think I figured it out. Booting to live environment, once the screen blanks, do your ctl-alt-F2 to get to CLI and login as root. Update via eopkg and it installs the latest packages to the USB image, then ctl-alt-F2 back into GUI and it works
