I have a single eopkg file I want to install and having a brain fart in the process
Can it not be installed that way?

Eopkg is designed to install packages from one of the Solus repositories. I think he's asking how to install a separate package that he has, that's not in a Solus repo. I don't know of a way to do that.

brent I can start filemanager as root and do what i want through terminal but wanted to add
Nautils-admin to it doesnt seem to work tho said it installed alright restarted hmm who knows

Axios nautilus-admin was something I always wanted to install and try but I never did. I remember someone like Josh once saying if they had it their way it would have never made it to the repo (I remember fragments🙂) edit: something about regular users not needing that power i think

I can't quite tell if you figured it out or not, but just in case, you can do sudo eopkg install filename.eopkg to install an eopkg file. 🙂

It's interesting that not everyone considers it a dangerous idea. In a Gecko Plasma system the Dolphin root version is availalable by default right in the System menu.

It says "File Manager," but it actually is a root version of Dolphin.

Yes, there are a few distros wherein you can still use Dolphin as root out of the box, like PCLinuxOS, and KaOS. And there is an easy way to enable it in other distros, Solus included. Question for the moderators, is it allowed to share it here? I don't want to do anything against the rules of the forum.

I remember from my distro-hopping days (before Solus) that I used a file manager that offered a "superuser mode" option in its menu. Don't remember which one that was, but it's yet another way to accomplish the same thing. Sometimes you don't even know that it's needed until you're already using the file manager and realize you need that mode in order to accomplish what you came to do.

What little I need to do with root decided to just do it from terminal not sure why it wouldnt show up it context menu

Since nobody objected, this is what I did. I installed Open Dolphin as Root, it's very easy. Users beware, you can damage your OS while using Dolphin as Root.
Open Dolphin > Menu > Configure > Configure Dolphin > Context Menu > Download New Services > on the Search field, write Open Dolphin as Root > Install

When you right click on a folder, you will see a new option, Open as Root. It works flawlessly. I don't know if Nautilus or Caja have something similar.

brent nope its not in software center you have download it manually as eopkg and install couldnt get it to
Work but you can uninstall it by software center tho. I needed it because I was trying out themes and putting in my themes folder. Just wanted something little simpler than terminal. Dolphin works great tho havent messed with it much to see if I like it more.
