Why is PulseAudio default 'priority' 'Very High'?

Maybe change to 'Low' (is this 'low' hanging fruit? no pun intended). I go in and manually change it every day (does not seem to make any difference)
I think I see a change made earlier for 'tracker-minder-fs-3' set to 'Very Low' (default) maybe to address the one issue I had submitted in over 4 years of use! ( see screenshot, already changed 'pulseaudio' to 'Very Low')

If you do not see a difference, why bother?
Audio is very important to some people. Low latency is enough reason for many in the audio industry to use apple products.

I can imagine it'd be annoying if you were listening to music and it kept cutting out due to other processes having higher priority. just my guess, though.

everyone that posted is right. from the stack question: "PulseAudio requires higher priority than other desktop programs mainly to avoid latency problems and get a skip-free audio playback. But the process that allows PulseAudio to have a higher priority is rather complex.
To get this special priority, it uses the RealtimeKit (rtkit-daemon) process. This D-Bus service allows some user programs to use real-time scheduling and enforces some strict policies to prevent abuse."

It just seemed a bit odd, from the security aspect - I have about 80 processes running and they are all 'Normal'.

Is there any way I can change this default in my local settings? Maybe in the 'start-up' settings?

MichaelFinko priority and security are two different and unrelated things.

Default priorities are sane, lowering pulseaudio priority would only result in choppy audio when your system load is heavy resulting in poor user experience.

It looks to me that you don't understand the purpose of priorities. Changing them won't make your system more secure or faster.
