I wrote a little script to update the Chrome browser. It will tell you if a new version is available or not, something the Software Center cannot. Enjoy!
#!/bin/bash
FLAVOUR=stable
REVISION=master
PSPEC=https://raw.githubusercontent.com/getsolus/3rd-party/${REVISION}/network/web/browser/google-chrome-${FLAVOUR}/pspec.xml
INSTALLED=$(google-chrome-${FLAVOUR} --version | awk '{print $3}')
UPSTREAM=$(curl -s ${PSPEC} | grep -m 1 Comment | sed -e 's/^[ \t]*//' | sed -e 's/<[^>]*>//g' | awk '{print $3}')
echo -e "Update Google Chrome ${FLAVOUR} on Solus\n"
echo "Current installed version of Google Chrome is ${INSTALLED}"
if [ ${INSTALLED} != ${UPSTREAM} ]; then
echo -e "Update to ${UPSTREAM}?"
read -n 1 -r -s -p $'\nPress a key to update or CTRL+c to cancel...\n'
cd /var/eopkg
sudo rm -R google-chrome-*
sudo eopkg bi --ignore-safety ${PSPEC}
sudo eopkg it google-chrome-*.eopkg
else
echo -e "No update available"
