, for instance, takes a bigger size picture than the one I regularly use which is Screenshot (Gnome). I could never explain why since I don't mess with any of the guts.
there's an xfce screen tool, plasma always has their own, then there are screenshot programs in the software center people use. so solus users do not uniformly use the same screenshot tool, to answer your question. So I find someone getting a pic over 2MB to be normal. Background likely factors into it, too.
