3) A former Solus lead name Josh, i one of those threads, talked explicity about cracking open a deb and installing on his system and it was hard as heck. For some they simply copy the ppd but that's never worked for me.
You don't have a scanner so there's no plugin--you have a black and white printer---there is no one-size-fits-all when you DIY your printer driver situation, but I'm 100% convinced you can make that printer run.
