As for Windows, I do not know what to trust for that task.
Axios I imaged my Solus Partion with it then restored it to a different drive with success and it booted and ran fine.
This May seem a round about way to do it but just havent been impressed with the linux solutions that I have gathered up seems to always be a little hiccup with them. There may be other windows solutions but I know this one works.
^^^ at the end of the day, if you have a foolproof method to clone it and reactivate as needed, as you described above, maybe it's 'if it ain't broke' thang....what are you looking for? A faster way? Or down and dirty?
