S0methingOff The Dell spec sheet for the Alienware 17R4 shows dual video controllers -- Intel 530 or 630 integrated and NVIDIA (GeoForce 1060/1070/1080) discrete. Obviously, I don't know which NVIDIA controller is installed on your computer, but it sounds as if your computer is set up to use the NVIDIA controller as primary, and the driver for that controller is not included in the ISO or otherwise not setting up and/or working properly during installation.
I am not familiar with Dell Alienware BIOS, but the BIOS on my Dell Optiplex and Dell Latitude computers permits me to select which video controller will be used (in Dell's words "determine which video controller will become primary when multiple controllers are available in the system") on the computer.
Because BIOS precedes OS, it might be possible (assuming your BIOS permits) to force the system to use the Intel controller rather than NVIDIA controller during installation. If so, you should be able to install using the Intel controller (driver in the kernel), and then, after installation is complete and the appropriate NVIDIA driver is installed in your Solus installation, go into BIOS again and select your NVIDIA controller for future use.
