It doesn't. Linux is reasonably secure, but the theory that open source software is inherently more secure than proprietary software because thousands of experts will examine the code and find the problems is not realized in actuality.
The Linux kernel gets a lot of scrutiny because Linux is used in servers, but otherwise, except for a few major applications like LibreOffice, applications don't get much scrutiny.
Solus, because packages are carefully curated, is probably more secure than most distros, which pack hundreds upon hundreds of half-baked applications into their repositories. Who is looking at all those packages for security vulnerabilities? In a lot of cases, nobody at all.
