Anyone having issues with Chrome and Firefox lately?

I use Chrome installed as a third party app and in the last week or so I'm getting issues with tabs crashing and even the entire process completely crashing. It's happening multiple times a day now and really impacting my work. I'm not sure that there's any entries in my logs on the crashing either which is a real challenge.
Occasionally, much more rarely, I get Firefox tabs crashing as well.

No problems here with Vivaldi Snapshot and Firefox. Maybe it's something related to hardware acceleration 🤔

Vivaldi on your phone? That's cool. it's cool the phone let you remove Chrome, too. Sometimes you are stuck with certain apps.

brent Sometimes you are stuck with certain apps.

My phone is an Android, so Chrome was installed as a default from the start. I left it on until I had installed Vivaldi, so there has always been a browser on it. Maybe that's what keeps Chrome from being removed? Could be that a browser is required, but not necessarily Chrome? My phone also has LastPass, so I can easily log on to any site that's listed there.

brent some google apps like Chrome you just can't delete, you can try to disable them tho in the app settings. Vivaldi on android is very nice, it has adblocker build-in.

Solarmass brent if you're comfortable with the command line and adb commands, you can find and remove almost any package from your android phone. I've removed a bunch of Google and Samsung bloatware from my Galaxy device that way and my son's Moto.

As always, if you do this, do so at your own risk. As we all know, tinkering too much can result in a bricked device.

Solarmass I'm thinking it's kernel/OS level. The times that Chrome tabs failed I got SIGILL or SIGSEGV errors which made me think it's something about how Chrome manages data access across its child processes? I'm getting a bit out of my depth here.
I downgraded to a slightly lower version of the kernel right after making this post. I'm on 5.14.12-201 and so far I haven't had the multiple crashes I was dealing with this morning.
@pomon I'll give that a try as well. If the issues don't come back I'll go back up to the most recent kernel version and try that there, too.
I use Chrome for work (we're a Google Workspace shop) so I'd rather try to make it work with this than deal with an un-Googled browser)

I thought my kernel downgrade fixed the issue, but I'm still seeing tabs crash now with SIGILL and SIGSEGV errors... @pomon running chrome in the terminal doesn't launch it. I'll need to figure out the specific command.
