Vivaldi stuck in full white screen

After last update I can't run Vivaldi browser as it gets stuck in a full white screen and the only way to exit is to kill the process.
I've gone through the usual ffmeg update routine but had no effect this time around.

Started Vivaldi via console in /usr/share/vivaldi-stable and got a bunch of GPU error messages and the most notable being "GPU at BusId 0x2 doesn't have a supported video decoder"

This post mentions the video decoding being handled by the Intel chip so I'm wondering if this time is a Nvidia issue although I've gone through its settings app and didn't find where to tweak.

Nobody likes to hear "it works on my machine," but in fact, that's true. On two machines in fact. I hope you find the problem soon.

mestrini I have the same problem, but I just uninstalled, I have no more will to fix. Too many problems with Vivaldi in recent months and there are enough Chrome replacements, my main choice is always Firefox

I uninstalled it, rebooted the system and reinstalled hoping it would, somehow, fix the issue. It didn't 😧
I'm using Firefox now and I'll gladly continue using it but I'd just like to recover the opened tabs where I had work in progress before this issue and many bookmarks that I rely upon. Guess I'll have to look through my last bookmark export file to try to salvage them.

I even installed Chrome to see if it's a browser family issue but Chrome ran just fine.

No major problems with Vivaldi here!
Sometimes some sites don't work well with Firefox, so i go to Vivaldi.

mestrini I don't know if it would help you to rollback update transfer bookmarks to another browser and then uninstall and make an update. I think you have to ask someone with more experience.

I did the rollback and recovered the bookmarks and opened tabs. They all reside in Firefox (and backup file also).

I also tried to update the system excluding nvidia drivers but somehow it wasn't allowed. I could exclude packages like LibreOffice or Unrar but not the Nvidia. Strange 😕
Ended up doing a full update, hoping the last Vivaldi release could have changed something. It didn't; still shows a full white window and nothing else.

Firefox it is 😃

UPDATE:
Managed to make it work but not sure if in the right conditions.

After rummaging a lot of sites looking for GPU related issues I got enough info to launch Vivaldi via CLI with some flags. None of the suggested worked (maybe because the problem was different) but when I tried:

/usr/bin/vivaldi-stable --disable-gpu the browser started normally. 😮

After that I went to Vivaldi settings and disable the hardware acceleration option

I'll stick with Firefox for now but let's see if future updates will make it work without disabling hardware

I fixed this issue doing the opposite exactly, which is to enable hardware acceleration for my Nvidia:

I did try those but, as mine was already enabled, they did nothing.
After the last update, in which Nvidia drivers were updated from 470.86 to 470.94 I was hoping to see the issue fixed. It wasn't.

BTW, I have a NVIDIA GeForce MX330 and Intel combined inside an ASUS VivoBook

UPDATE:

After last system's update, which included NVidia drivers 470.103 (https://docs.nvidia.com/datacenter/tesla/tesla-release-notes-470-103-01/index.html), looks like NVIDIA finally fixed the issue and Vivaldi can now use hardware acceleration again. 😃

Yet, still sticking with Firefox 😏
