brent, I think you want cp
, if you extract your files from the deb, and then ,sudo cp
each file to the directory where the original deb expects to find them. Keep a note so you can delete them if it doesn't work out.
If a file you attempt to copy already exists at the target location, best to stop and consider, as that is likely in use on your system already and may be a different version (in that case I'd leave the existing file and carry on). Some files won't be necessary for success, perhaps the likes of changelog.txt, readme.txt, etc. I don't think install
is relevant to what you're trying to achieve.
Mileage, in my experience, varies with unpacking debs for using this way, sometimes it works, and sometimes not ¯_(ツ)_/¯
