Im looking for a mouse! Personally i like having a little more than the driver less mice offers (zowie etc) in terms of number of buttons - atleast 1 extra button to close window/tab with is a must.

Currently i reassigning my DPI switch buttons for that (ctrl+w and alt+4) in windows but getting that working in Linux with my current mouse Qpad 8k Laser is way above me if at all possible!

So im hunting for a new mouse and im curious what everyone else here is running and if you have it working 100% with / without drivers?

I use logitech M585. It's a nice mouse with 2 extra buttons for the thumbs on the side. Which unfortunately I can't use because I'm left-handed. I have not found a way to utilize the button on the side tho, there's no official linux drivers for it.

just cant beat the logitech G603,works great, also great for gaming, and the replaceable batteries last a year. also has on board memory so once you've programmed the buttons (in windows :/ ) they stick

    At work, with a MacBook Pro with Solus, I just use the touchpad, it's good enough.

    At home, I use a Steelseries Rival mouse, great for everyday use and gaming.

    FYI, I'm not a mouse geek

      I use a logitech performance MX wireless mouse. I also use a K270 keyboard. They both connect to the same unifying receiver.
      The only thing that doesnt work is the zoom button where your thumb rests. I havent looked into getting it to work in fairness. The 2 main buttons, the forward and backward buttons and the scroll wheel work just fine.

      I ordered a Logitech G403 Prodigy - apparently it has a onboard memory so i can store whatever macro i want to the top button! Ill let you know when it arrives after the weekend - thanks forall the replies 🙂

        Logitech B110. I've been looking for a Zowie for a while, though.

        I have a Logitech G502 and I'm not even a gamer. I just like to stay wired and have a responsive mouse alongside my Das Model S Professional "Silent" (Cherry MX Brown) mechanical keyboard. They are plugged into my Lenovo docking station for my laptop.

        Logitech G303 Mouse & Logitech G512 Carbon Tactile Keyboard.

        Logitech G502.

        • Adjust DPI on the fly
        • Switch scroll wheel between free spin and the more traditional scroll
        • 11 Programmable buttons (3 of those are the scroll wheel - left, right and click which i don't really count)
        • Change DPI on the fly
        • Adjustable weights
        • Onboard memory
        • You can turn off the RGB (Lights annoy me)
        • Has software in the Solus repository called "piper" to change mouse settings (Supports a lot of Logitech stuff)

        I'm happy with it. Only cost me like $70~ AUD on ebay with promotional code, which i think is a fair price. Most popular Australian retail outlets were trying to sell it for $109 AUD. I hate how expensive mouses have gotten. I previously had a Razer Naga (the original one) and it lasted what feels like 10 years but I really didn't want to spend $139 AUD on the new Razer Naga Trinity.

            Shocks me to see Logitech has the upper echelon of the market for you all. Had no clue.
            I have a bottom of the barrel K series Logi wireless mouse/key. Nothing fancy at all. Doesn't feel ergonomically wonderful. I have to bang the crumbs out of the keyboard every couple weeks. Does what $40 USD (for the combo) needs it to do. Nothing magical.

            If you are into the whole brick and mortar experience like I am, it's the monopoly mouse; the people's mouse I guess.
            That's a generational difference. In no brick and mortar store in the usa will you see the high-end logitech mice and keys you all refer to. Just the low end like mine. My experience anyway. Interesting thread.

            Still makes me wonder: where is their competition?

              brent Is this the kind of mouse you'll see in schools and offices?

                  That is the question!

                  Skimming through all the mouse manufacturers i can think of not many work in linux unless as i said u go for the driverless mice.
                  For example Roccats linux drivers that used to be praised are now abandoned Razer linux drivers work but getting a newish mouse supported also seems hard.

                  Which leaves Logitech that seems reasonably updated..

                      I use a "Talon-Blu" mouse, Ambidextrous, adjustable DPI up to 3000, nice Blue LED, quality wheel is forgiving of greasy fingers too...lol, and cost effective, under $50 USD.

                      Fatih19 schools, office, my house, your house, your mechanic's entrance, your church, your grandma...left click right click wheel and wireless. Basic mouse. I'm just saying I've never walked into a usa electronics store (I visit plenty) and seen what was in this great thread as far as high-end logitech stuff. Interesting that it's mostly one company. Don't get me wrong: a usb mouse and keyboard is primitive to me...
