Anyone lose fonts and splash initial splash screen go dark with latest update? All my fonts in "Budgie Settings" were set to none and I cannot get the terminal to look as it was before. I've gone Noto Sans Regular and got most of the feel back, but def different.

There shouldn't have been any changes to those o.O Neither Budgie, our branding package for Budgie, or noto-sans-ttf have been updated. I don't believe there has been any changes to the likes of freetype or harfbuzz either.

Would be curious if this was a broader issue. Most of the changes this week were around KDE Applications / Framework, Plasma, some updates like kernel (5.14.14), Rust, Vivaldi, Keybase, etc.

JoshStrobl was wondering why I was so "k" heavy today budgie update. it took me a while to realize I installed spectacle last week and it pull about 15 k-packages in.

JoshStrobl Yeah...I did the "sudo eopkg lu" to see what was being updated. Weird. I rebooted again, the splash screen is 100% black, no blue solus background. no big deal there. I re-entered all the fonts and everything is pretty much back to normal. Super weird.

The only thing I did prior to the update was to delete the plata theme as I installed Adapta-Eta for widgets and Korla for Icons. Not sure why that would have made a difference unless plata is somehow tied to Budgie?

Anyway, everything else works find, I got a look I like. Smooth and super fast so really, not an issue. As a vivaldi true believer, love the update. Really, Solus is home sweet home. Thanks!

That would have uninstalled budgie-desktop-branding-fortitude, so that explains the breakage. Not the advised way of going about that.

JoshStrobl yikes. Ok. So I re-installed plata. What else do I need to do?

jppelt You should install budgie-desktop-branding-fortitude, that will make sure all the necessary deps and defaults get installed. You shouldn't need to re-apply Adapta as your theme of choice after that, but in the future just make sure you install that package and not nuke everything else 😃 Also I would like to note the Adapta is not maintained, so it is not guaranteed to continue working going forward into future Budgie (or even with GTK, as it does not support GTK4).

JoshStrobl Thanks...done and all is back to normal. I'll try not to go nuclear next time...nothing like trying to trim and breaking some dependency.

Sad to hear about Adapta...I really like it. Maybe I'll just go back plata and KISS. Thanks again!

The color of notification icon is part of the theme. Plata has it is blue and my current theme for example Qogir Dark it is green.

algent Thanks. I guess I did not know the extent dependencies in theming. Besides Korla I’m back to plata for now but will likely try more options soon. After all, trying new things is half the fun 😜Qogir here I come….
