Google Remote Desktop alternative

Is this just a remote desktop app? If so, I use NoMachine for that:

riffer ok, I'm gonna check out Remmina, then I'll look into NoMachine. My main concern is that I'm able to go from a state of hibernation to logging in while away from home, and that I can access it while after logging out of a profile/ if no one is logged in, which I'd struggled to find previously (since I'm not the only person who uses my PC, but if I'm trying to remote in ofc I'm looking to be on my profile) but I wasn't really sure which all software would be solus friendly, and there's a few things on the repo but they're just.... weird combinations of letters (krdc? xrdp? After seeing those Idk if I'm even looking at the right stuff lol...), so I appreciate the link 😃

it's from 2019, but some found a way to make it work in this thread.
try snap or flatpak?

brent I'm not super familiar with Snap/Flatpak, so I wouldn't know where to begin on that... and I may be stupid (I'm certainly fairly stupid with.. all of this lol...) but I don't see anything where they got GRD working there.. only thing I'm seeing is someone saying you can just install it by going to the website, and that you can still use it to log into other computers remotely, but not to jump into the solus computer, which doesn't work bc it's a .deb file, so not sure what they were getting at there..

1 'remote desktop' in software center search shows remmina and more.
2 snap and flatpak are repos that offer programs outside the purview of Solus. they come installed on solus. you can use them thru the terminal. (might have to add flatpak repo manually. I use Zoom from flatpak). I actually found some but you'd probably re-learning the wheel

Remina doesn't appear to have an android app, so moving onto NoMachine.

Trying the nomachine guide, i typed 'sudo eopkg install user-manager' into Konsole, it returned:

typed sudo eopkg install user-manager --debug and got a bunch of text I don't really understand that well, but in red it says "repo item user-manager not found" and it repeats that at the bottom of the text

Hyperlink to a troubleshooting guide which says solus isn't supported, available workaround options, but I think I'd rather see if anyone has any recommendations that actually support solus >.> last thing I need is to try and use it and it be broken bc the workaround stopped working or some nonsense..

brent lol yeah, it's a trip... honestly, I'm thinking of trying to get used to budgie anyways, because I'm still having weird driver issues (specifically, Lutris/WINE think I've not got the latest drivers?.. would assume it was just Lutris being off, if I hadn't already had issues with the drivers here..)

Ed: the point being, I may be restarting from scratch soon anyways so.... this may all be a moot point, ish?
Ed2: Drivers are just... screwy in general... I've been messing with this all week, on the bottom of my list was seeing if I could somehow get the scroll wheel of my mouse working bc it wasn't and it just started working, no freakin' clue why. I've tried it like 5 times today, and no luck, but I digress..

that's a can o' worms but doable.
Here's what you have to remember about Linux (budgie was/is my first linux desktop)----it might not come easy but where there's a will there's a way. You might have to move mountains, or it may be easy peasy, but you can mostly get what you want.
The gamers who have this all dialed in on Solus are plentiful on this forum. hopefully you'll hear from them on this issue.

brent Yeah, and I'll be honest, I love going down the rabbit hole and trying to figure this stuff out (usually), but you've got- as best as I can tell- three layers of issues here, with no real way to work on them (wine binaries are broken, lutris binaries are broken, or nvidia drivers are broken), which is why I'm now looking into budgie again, but Idk why I just can't stand how it looks, but given that its kinda zapped my desire to find the fix here- and I know there is or at least was one, because I've got GRD running on my craptop, which is also running Solus Plasma (and has been for... at least a year, maybe two? Around the time Animal Crossing on the Switch came out, whenever that was..)

Been busy the last couple weeks, getting back into this, I set up Remmina and god dang, I don't have any idea what's going on.. I've so far found exactly 5 guides that tell you how to install remmina using the CLI then say "then just fill out your server info and you're good!" like, what? Who knows all of their server details for a given computer, but not how to install software?

I keep seeing stuff about VNC, but this seems to be referring to something in the Ubuntu OS, does Solus use VNC as well? briefly searching the forums for "VNC" made it look like it had a lot of issues, but the couple I clicked were waaay over my head...

(ED: and unrelated, but I had figured out the Nvidea driver issues- the software center just had the 32 bit drivers seperate from "glx-drivers" and they were waaaay at the bottom of the software center so I didn't realize that until I went line by line reading them all to see if any looked more correct)
