Shotcut does not add video to the timeline

Thank you all, I just downloaded & tried to use Shotcut for the first time today, and I was driving myself crazy reading through tutorials thinking I must be doing something wrong. Seeing that it's a known bug and a solution is in the works is a big relief!

still seeing no chatter about fixing current repo v21.09.20 in dev tracker. unless I looked wrong (quite possible). fingers crossed for y'all

If 21.09.20 fixes the issue as has been suggested it has been in Solus's unstable repo since 5th October. https://dev.getsol.us/D11935 so it'll be in this weeks sync.

Harvey brent Katoa Hmm ... I installed the latest version from the repository - the situation has not changed at all. Maybe the problem is, after all, in some libraries? Maybe the wrong version of Qt?

alexanderzhirov Uhh dunno maybe its me wheres the video in the preview window? and try doing what your doing but with preview window cursur on window and drag to timeline. See if it does anything should drop put it in timeline.

What i would do is make another user login in to it dont change anything see if it works if it does i would guess icon libraries or fonts or something. I had some those get messed up for some reason and did a check fixed them and another program I was having issues with worked then.. Oh did you happen go into shotcut view application log and see if any debug errors?

Works fine for me. It is possible the theme is causing issues 🤷‍♂️

Harvey I tried to change the theme inside Budgie, and in the Shotcut itself - still unchanged. The situation is the same on another computer (using a laptop) - Solus 4.3 is also installed and the same problem with Shotcut.

Ahh there is some issue going on with timelime installed 21.8 no friday updates runs ok but on timeline icons no popup text when you highlight an icon box appears no text but if I change to fusion theme that comes with shotcut it works properly. Will do updates to 21.9now see if it changes (mac works fine no issues ) oh budgie

Updated system and shotcut still shows no icon text in timeline with system theme but works with the 2 fusions selections Dunno at this point uhh found shotcut throwing this error

Somebody smarter than me might have to chime in only error I could find!
was in terminal when started from there and shotcut debug log ahh seems normal did google search
for some kind of error for external hardware (I am out of ideas)

OK on the first problem where I had no text in timeline icons I changed to mojave-dark widgets and papirus-light icon and now it works under shotcut system theme seems working proper you cannot reverse the two it wont display proper.(must be light dark at least on my machine) So seems to be an issue there will try other machine later where timeline icons missing totally. Will now delete shotcut off this machine as I dont use it on Linux maybe this is of some help. oops those where korla-light icons but worked with the other i mentioned to. Restart shotcut after changes I dont know if shotcut or solus to blame?

mojave dark and korla worked in linux on repo Shotcut or flatpak? I wonder why those two themes?

brent not sure but it would put a strip across right where the icons are from left to right and it would always be opposite color like it was redrawing or something and then you had to restart it with new settings. like its not all one screen. It was the repo never had any problems with flatpak. Been working with it on gnome no icons havent had any luck.

Axios right back where we all started? I hate that. I think you proved it was thematic at the very least. Plus libraries and that .so file. Without doubt this package is missing something no one on the using end can give it, yet.

brent Well it was never put on this machine until I put the repo one on first and it didnt work so we know it
wasnt anything lingering on system from previous install. messed up from git go
