Weird prompt in the terminal.

Hi!

When I first installed Solus Mate 4.3 I had the prompt in the terminal in two colors with username@hostname format (like most people have by default), but I installed Solus from the same iso today and it's all white and looks like this:

bash-5.1$

Could you tell me what could happen to my prompt or at least how to set it up for a default Solus' format and looks. I wasn't messing with any terminal options except font size.

There's a system string that you can edit to whatever you want. I'm sure someone will post it soon. I used it once a long time ago, and have forgotten the details by now.

Thanks for Your reply. I solved it like a dumbass 😅 by copying .bashrc and .profile files from my Solus Mate Live pendrive into my home directory. For some reason these files weren't copied during installation. Now my prompt looks just like I remember it from my earlier Solus installation and when I boot Solus from pendrive.

Please let me know if you know why my prompt wasn't in default style after fresh install. I'm very curious what could happen.

MattX I've honestly never seen that happen before. Did you reuse a Home partition or something?

I got my /home folder on another partition and I linked it as /home during installation, but before that I removed all the dotfiles and configs leaving only user folders like Music, Downloads, Videos, etc. No old system files left when I used this location as my /home.

MattX That'll do it. The installer won't copy in /etc/skel unless it's told to format the new home partition.

So basically, copying the .bashrc and .profile files is just a good solution? Or is there any way to set the prompt to default form?

MattX I would generally recommend having everything from /etc/skel in your homedir.
