Need some clarification

I had older dell opltiplex I had put solus gnome 2 years back or so I dug it out hooked it up and yes it was gnome desktop did all updates everything went fine. But on my allinone that I have issues updateing after gnome looks like I have budgie desktop but what confuses me is under about is says Solus 4.3 Fortitude Gnome ver 40.3.0 If I have gnome how can it be budgie desktop I never changed any of that stuff? Clarification would be helpful.

"About" and "Settings" application that you see in Budgies system menu is actually "gnome-control-center".

So it makes sense that it would report the gnome version. It does not know or care about Budgie. It just has settings for a lot of gtk things.

"Budgie Desktop Settings" also exists and it is my understanding that the intent is to move away from using gnome control center entirely.
